Artist's Biography

Alex Loza, an Artist that honors Peru through his paintings. His works can be found in Latin America and the United States. His portfolio consist of numerous
events in the Chicagoland area like, the Hispanic Art Fair that was sponsored by ABN AMRO bank, the celebration of the Peruvian Independence at Daley
Plaza and the Dia de los Ninos Parade and several more. He is represented by Effe Leven Gallery in Chicago, IL and Hinsdale Gallery in Hinsdale, IL.

First Decade 1994-2004

Alex Loza, was raised by an artistic family that planted his passion for his career. Though the seed was planted when he was a child, in 1994 as a high
school student was when his first artwork was part of an exhibition in New Jersey. Leading to his graduation from high school, he decided to attend Andrews
University in Michigan where he met his art mentor and teacher, Harry Ahn. Harry trained Alex from 1996 to 1999 and with his help Alex enhanced his
capability to paint realism. Constantly searching to perfect his technique, Alex enrolled in Anatomy classes where he had the opportunity to study and dissect
cadavers. He also attended the drawing and painting Human Anatomy classes at Notre Dame University in Indiana.

With this solid foundation he enrolled and attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago, IL in September 1999.  This academy is one of the prestige
academies within the artistic assemblage. Here Alex graduated as one of the top artist of his class. In 2004, the Academy included him to be part of their Hall
of Fame. His works can be admired by many and are utilize as exemplar by the Academy today.

In 1998, Alex began painting for art collectors, many of his works can be found in Peru, Puerto Rico, Mexico and within the United States. His works have
impacted many people locally as well as internationally.  So much so that the Peruvian composer and musician, Gerardo Rehuel Sanchez categorizes him as
“a youth that is already catalogued, as one of the best painters of the world.” To this the Art History Professor, Asun Carrillo from Spain adds “that his works
are full of deep roots that helps him to create a vivid chromatic palette, full of poise and of accentuated emotions.”  The Singer, RosaLuz “The Native Voice of
Afro-Peru” says that Alex “in spite of the distance he carries Peru in his blood but even more in his art which leaks Peruvian essence.” And the Peruvian
Filmmaker and Producer, Juan Carlos Oganes said that, “... in truth is a pride to have a countryman with talent to spare and so well educated in the matter.”

New Horizons

In the commencing of Alex’s second decade, the recognition of the artist reaches the city of New York, where reporter, Ramon Machado Contreras, from the
online Peruvian newspaper, Cronica Viva (Live Chronic) interviews the artist.

In August 2007, days after the earthquake in the south of Peru, the artist was contacted by Javier Orellana, reporter from the New York Post, because it came
to his attention that Alex designed shirts to help raise funds to those in aid in Peru and Javier wanted to publish this story.  In that same year the artist is
contacted by Jose Barrera, Principal at the Columbia Explorers Academy in Chicago, IL to commission a portrait of Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, which forms
part of the school’s collection. Part of 2007, Alex was invited by several institutions as a motivational speaker for Latinos. At Denison University in Ohio to was
named a “Role Model” among the youth.

In 2009, the artist commence the year with more victories. In April, he was invited to join an exhibit at one of the well-known galleries in Chicago, IL, Effe
Leven. The exhibit was a success and arouse the interest of international art collectors in Spain and other European countries. Since then Alex’s artwork has
been reappraised.

For the artist his major accomplishment was marrying his best-friend, Jocelyn. Together they created The Loza Atelier, with her background in Public
Relations she became the marketing manager and the artist representative.  The Loza Atelier offers portraits, acrylic and oil paintings, charcoal drawings and
home/office art. The start of 2010 Alex selects Hinsdale Gallery to represent his artwork in the Suburbs of Chicago. In August, the artist and his family make
the decision to relocate to Tennessee in order to expand the business and to conquer the Southern galleries. His future plans include continuing enjoying the
company of his wife and beautiful daughter, to be part of countless new exhibits, attain his Master’s Degree, and to educate others on the subject of Art.
