INTRO TO ACADEMIC FIGURE DRAWING
Sundays TBA
Course Fee: $ 195 + Model fee
(Fee divided by the number of artists – usually $10 or less.)

Basic principles of drawing will be covered in depth, beginning with measuring
techniques and ideas about proportion. We will consider some of the basic
structural features common to all 3-dimensional objects – planes, boundaries, axes
and angles – and learn to use these concepts in the construction of a drawing. We
will then move on to the most important structural characteristics of the human
figure, including posture, movement, angle of view, contour and anatomy. Finally,
we will explore light & shade and discuss several effective approaches for making
drawings appear three dimensional. Students will create several quick poses
drawings, contour drawings as well as long poses. We will be working from a live
nude model.
